MDIA stands for Mortgage Disclosure Improvement Act. This is a federal law that was enacted in 2010 as an amendment to the Truth in Lending Act (TILA). The MDIA requires lenders to provide borrowers with more detailed information about the costs and terms of their mortgage loans. The law also requires lenders to provide borrowers with a new type of mortgage disclosure form, known as the "Know Before You Owe" form, which must be provided to borrowers at least three days before they close on their loan. The aim of the MDIA is to help consumers understand the costs and terms of their mortgage loans and make better-informed decisions about borrowing money to buy a home.
