$1B Malawi Hydropower Project Goes to Team Led by Norway's Scatec
Abstract
The project will be built between the existing Tedzani and Kapichira hydropower plants. The World Bank Group’s International Finance Corp. is providing $350 million of the total project costs. The Mpatamanga power plant is located on the Shire River in southern Malawi. It is expected to offset 520,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually. An estimated two million people will access electricity generated by the plant.
