"The way it's situated up on this bluff, you've got the Pacific Ocean with beautiful cliffs down below and big waves rolling in," Ladd says. "We have lighthouses up and down the Oregon coast; and generally, they are positioned on pieces of land that jut out into the ocean like this, because they were visible to boats." The home's lighthouse is essentially a viewing tower with an elaborate spiral staircase. "It's the most incredible viewing tower that you've ever seen, and it's just jaw-dropping when you stand up there." Ladd calls the home's high-quality construction understated and ageless. "While the main house is more dramatic, with views of the ocean and up and down the coast, this one is more secluded. You're down in the trees; and it's really just a beautiful, quiet spot to be in." A boathouse with a winch allows for river and ocean access, lending to the property's retreat-like feel. Ladd says the buyer will probably be someone looking for a legacy property-a home a family will cherish for years to come. less

With seven bathrooms throughout the home, it's a bit of a mystery why anyone would want to go to the bathroom at the same time as someone else just a few feet apart-even if each is in a private, fully enclosed space. We didn't love: The flooring We also weren't fans of the flooring throughout the home. For the past few years, that gray-toned flooring has seemed to have been a staple on whichever home improvement show is currently playing on HGTV. Pretty soon it's going to look dated-if it isn't already. less

"You have a little living room with a wood-burning fireplace and a dining pavilion with a big living wall on one side. They are kind of a centerpiece as you go from room to room," Schemmel explains. "Each room has a different energy to it but are all super unique, and every room is curated to have a certain kind of energy. "It's a big house, but it's cozy and comfortable, too," Schemmel says, adding that the original owners didn't need many bedrooms and preferred multiple entertaining spaces. There's a boat lift there already, but you could certainly put in a bigger one," Schemmel says. less

The current owner, who purchased the home in 2020 for $152,500, has made some modifications-fresh paint and flooring, plus a new roof. "The current owners took the sand out but kept the cabana-style bed. There was also a bathroom-that had a jungle-theme-that is now a more traditional style." [but] a sustained recovery likely remains a long way off," Kieran Clancy, senior U.S. economist at Pantheon Macroeconomics, wrote in a note. "The downturn in sales is coming to an end, but the decline in home prices is only just getting underway," he added. less
