GPOD on the Road: Toronto Garden Tour - FineGardening
Abstract
Frequent GPOD contributor Cherry Ong took a trip to Toronto recently and got the chance to tour some beautiful gardens. I attended the Through the Garden Gate Wychwood garden tours offered by the Toronto Botanical Gardens. The garden description from the tour brochure says this: "This pretty front garden is an example of symmetry with boxwood squares complemented by topiary shrubs. The back garden is separated by a greenery-covered arch. Potted and soil-based plants abound. Note the fence is stained black which allows the plants to recede, thus giving the impression that the garden is completely self-contained." A row of tuberous begonias sets the scene on a garden table. You don't need a big garden to make a beautiful space. Layers of plants add height to the garden Tall urns lift up blooming hydrangeas to make a dramatic gateway to the next part of the garden. Have a garden you'd like to share? Have photos to share? We'd love to see your garden, a particular collection of plants you love, or a wonderful garden you had the chance to visit! To submit, send 5-10 photos to along with some information about the plants in the pictures and where you took the photos. We'd love to hear where you are located, how long you've been gardening, successes you are proud of, failures you learned from, hopes for the future, favorite plants, or funny stories from your garden.
