āRomancing the Stoneā: Popular Vacation Rental in Oklahoma Available for $739K
Instead of a typical log cabin, this popular cabin in Broken Bow, OK, is clad in stone.
On the market for $739,000, āRomancing the Stoneā is a luxury cabin thatās in demand on vacation rental sites.
āIt got its name when we were sitting around a campfire. We narrowed it down to a couple of names, and we figured āRomancing the Stoneāāsince there arenāt that many stone cabins,ā says listing agent and cabin owner Maureen Kile, with Coldwell Banker. āIt would play on the movie, and itās something people would remember.ā
The two-bedroom cabin was built in 2016 and measures just under 1,400 square feet.
āItās got a real rustic tin roof in the living room that is kind of cool,ā Kile says. āIt just feels really open when you walk in and is flooded with natural light. The double-sided fireplace catches our eye because itās floor-to-ceiling.ā
As youād expect in a country cabin, wood walls are everywhere. However, the kitchen adds a distinctive pop of color.
āI love the cabinets in the kitchen. Itās like an aqua kind of blue, and itās so beautiful,ā Kile says.
But the kitchen isnāt the only unique thing about this cabin. In a universe where farmhouse style reigns supreme, the rocky exterior sets this place apart. A facade with multiple windows means this isnāt a dark and gloomy cabin inside.
āIt stands out because of the rockāsince most of them have wood exteriors,ā Kile says. āThe newer ones are more of a farmhouse style.ā
In 2019, HGTV filmed a segment at the house when a family from Texas with a new baby wanted to buy a vacation cabin the in area. āIt was the one they selected,ā Kile says.
Kile bought the place about nine months ago, and itās been a popular rental, going for between $280 and $375 a night.
āI stay there myself every once in a while, but itās hardly ever open for me to do that,ā she says.
It sits within a national forest in Hochatown, an area about three hours away from the larger cities of Shreveport, LA, Dallas, and Oklahoma City. Tucked in the southeast corner of the Sooner State, itās an area thatās growing in popularity. The cabin is also close to Broken Bow Lake.
āThere are a ton of pine trees, and itās a very off-the-grid-type thing,ā Kile explains. āPeople like to come there from those directions to get away. The phone doesnāt work very well when youāre surrounded by pine trees, so itās a great place to relax and spend time with your family and get away.ā
The sale price includes the pool table, hot tub, and fire pit.
āEverything is in there, all the way down to the silverware,ā Kile says.
