The number of multifamily building permits in the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater MSA nearly doubled from January-July 2022 as compared to the same time frame in 2021, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau. The 7,180 multifamily permits through July 2022 already exceeded 2021’s total of 5,526 permits. During that same time, the number of single-family permits dropped by more than 15%.
