First Guaranty sued for gender discrimination, retaliation
Abstract
First Guaranty Mortgage Corp. filed for Chapter 11 protection less than a week after it fired 471 workers, or over 75% of its workforce, over operational losses. Coworkers and supervisors accused of subjecting plaintiffs to hostile gender-based microaggressions, bullying not experienced by male colleagues. The lawsuit accuses PIMco of knowingly allowing FGMC to be undercapitalized and improperly transferring assets. Of the men named in the complaint, Samples and Jewkes appear to still be employed. Simons and Smith appeared to still are still employed with the company. The company on July 1 in a federal court in Delaware will request orders allowing it to continue to support past due and current employee and vendor payments. The case will be heard in a court on July1 in aFederal court hearing in D.C.
