UFC Champ Tito Ortiz wants $4.5 million for his Huntington Beach house
Former Light Heavyweight Champion Jacob ‘Tito’ Ortiz has strong ties to his hometown, the surf-friendly seaside city of Huntington Beach.
The Southern California city has been his home for most of his life, it’s the place where his business is based — Ortiz is the CEO of Punishment Athletics MMA equipment and clothing line — and he even ran it for a while: Tito Ortiz briefly served as Huntington Beach’s mayor pro tempore in 2021, before resigning 6 months later.

While we don’t know if he has any plans to relocate, the UFC fighter has recently listed his longtime home for sale, a Mediterranean-style waterfront house on Davenport Island in Huntington Beach Harbor.
Ortiz first tested the waters last year, listing the Tuscan-style home for $6,000,000 in early December. Just a couple of weeks later, Tito Ortiz’s house was taken off the market, only to resurface in July 2022 with a $5.5 million asking price.
A few price adjustments later, UFC legend Tito Ortiz seems to have settled on the $4.5 million price for his Davenport Island residence. It’s now listed with Baron Bershaw at Compass.
A closer look at Tito Ortiz’s house in Huntington Beach
The 3,887-square-foot waterfront house has long been the UFC fighter’s home base.
Public records show that Ortiz has owned it since 2008 when he bought it for $3,250,000, meaning he shared it with his longtime partners and three sons. Ortiz was married to his first wife, Kristin, for 5 years, and the two share a son, Jacob; he also has two twin boys with ex-adult film star Jenna Jameson, whom he dated for seven years.
He now lives in the waterfront mansion with his life partner, model and former Octagon Girl, Amber Nichole Miller.
The luxury house has 4 bedrooms, 4 baths, and a whole series of upscale amenities, high-end appliances, and custom woodwork, all neatly packaged in a charming stucco exterior with a Spanish tile roof.
Built in 2006, the Mediterranean-style home has 20-foot vaulted ceilings and features two master bedrooms with private balconies, as well as an executive office, a wine cellar, and an entertainers’ backyard.

There’s also a private 50-foot dock where the future owner can park their boats.
Ortiz’s home also comes with a 3-gar garage and beach access.
Tito Ortiz’s career and achievements, from UFC champion to former mayor
If you’re less versed in UFC history, Jacob Christopher “Tito” Ortiz is best known for his stints with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where he made his mixed martial arts debut in 1997.
After defeating contender Wanderlei Silva in 2000, he won the title of Light Heavyweight Champion, which he later defended for a then-record five times in the following three years, defeating Yuki Kondo, Evan Tanner, Elvis Sinosic, Vladimir Matyushenko, and Lion’s Den head Ken Shamrock.
The former light heavyweight champion filled many roles during his 15-year career in the Octagon.
From 2000 to 2006, Ortiz was one of the best in the sport, becoming the biggest-money fighter of the early 2000s and cashing in big on his highly publicized rivalry with Ken Shamrock.
After years of serving as the face of the sport, he was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2012.
In later years, Ortiz made his professional boxing debut on September 11, 2021, in a round-one loss to fellow former UFC veteran Anderson Silva.
But he also dabbled in politics, running for Huntington Beach City Council in 2020 and winning an open seat. He was then named mayor pro tempore of his hometown, but resigned from the role in June 2021, citing ‘character assassination’ and personal attacks triggered by his views on face mask usage, vaccination, and COVID-19 protocols during the pandemic.
The Huntington Beach native has also had his share of controversy, from domestic abuse allegations to a scandal related to him claiming unemployment benefits while serving on the city council.
But that’s a bit out of our wheelhouse, so we’ll instead keep our eyes on his Huntington Beach manse — and hopefully report on the buyer once somebody takes it off of Ortiz’s hands.

Can you believe it’s been well over 20 years since Sex and the City first hit our screens back in 1998 and we first set our sights on the now-iconic Carrie Bradshaw apartment?

This whirlwind series gave us a glimpse into the chronically busy social lives of Manhattan’s socialites and oh-so-relatable dating dramas, and was the favorite go-to for just about any single woman in the late 90s and early 2000s — and, arguably, still is today.
Especially now, when a new chapter of the story was released in the form of a much-hyped sequel, And Just Like That… that brought back our favorite characters: Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda (minus one Samantha).
And while we’ll refrain from commenting on whether the new show lives up to the original, we certainly were glad to see many of our favorite characters return.
Same goes for the familiar locations.
As we’ve mentioned in our article covering all the fabulous houses and apartments in And Just Like That… there’s comfort in the familiarity of the characters, the locations, the traditional lunch chats, and of course, the backdrop tying all of it together — New York City.
Carrie’s apartment on the Upper East Side makes its glamorous return too, and we’re here to answer any questions you might have about it.
We get it. We’d like to live a Carrie-esque lifestyle too, even if it’s just pretending, and the New York apartment plays a big role in that.
But before you get too excited, we should probably mention that Carrie’s apartment doesn’t actually exist — at least not in the traditional sense.
The interior was built on set and has since been deconstructed, but you can see the apartment’s famous steps where she and her suitors shared many a goodnight kiss.
Oh, and did we mention that Sarah Jessica Parker herself lives just a few blocks away from it? Bonus!
Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment on the Upper East Side
Carrie Bradshaw’s home was any single girl’s dream apartment and we bet there’s not one of you who hasn’t wished they could live out that dream, even just for a second.
Unfortunately, the warm and familiar interior of Carrie’s apartment was only a figment of set designer, Jeremy Conway’s imagination and it bloomed to life in Silvercup Studios in Queens just for the duration of the series. It had to be rebuilt for the subsequent movies.
Conway has explained in various interviews that he wanted to portray the personality of each much-loved SATC character – Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha – through their individual homes.
Carrie’s house, therefore, was a rough-and-ready apartment designed to illustrate her creative side.
It was lived-in, messy, and real; a mix of styles and second-hand furniture that also reflected her budget — she was a sex columnist after all and not a multi-millionaire.
And, of course, the walk-in closet to show her commitment to fashion was just the cherry on top.
The Sex & the City apartment in real life
Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment is unfortunately another situation of reality versus fiction, where fiction takes the trophy.
Most scenes were filmed on set, with only exterior shots being taken on location at 64 Perry Street in the heart of New York’s West Village landmark district. The main filming location was later changed to the neighboring 66 Perry Street.
In total, no less than five properties were used as Carrie’s apartment throughout the series’ six seasons, none of them close to the sex columnist’s fictional address.
In the much-loved series, Carrie lived in a fairly spacious rent-controlled apartment at 245E 73rd Street — an address that doesn’t actually exist.
She was supposedly paying just $700 a month, but in today’s standards, an apartment of its size on the Upper East Side would cost well over $3,000 a month. Thank god for poetic license.
Instead, the Sex and the City apartment used for filming is located down leafy Perry Street in Manhattan’s West Village — so it’s not even on the Upper East Side. (We know – gasp!)
Exterior shots were first filmed outside number 64, before moving on to number 66 Perry Street for season three, supposedly because of its ‘more glamorous’ staircase.
The move did the trick, as the 66 Perry Street brownstone with its memorable steps became a genuine tourist destination, with thousands of fans stopping by each year to take a picture in front of Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment.
How much does Carrie’s apartment cost nowadays?
While Carrie’s apartment was definitely the goal of any single gal living alone, the house behind the façade is far, far grander.
Definitely way beyond Carrie Bradshaw’s budget.
Sarah Jessica Parker’s character famously paid only $700 in rent, but that likely wouldn’t cover renting a single room in the sprawling browstone at 64 Perry Street.
Inside its 4,000 square feet and five impressive floors, you’ll find no less than five bedrooms, three bathrooms, and an enormous south-facing backyard.
Built in 1866, the house was designed by architect Robert Mook, who also built most of the Italian-style townhouses on the block.
The interior is about as impressive as it gets with original herringbone wood floors, crystal chandeliers, ornate crown and ceiling moldings, high ceilings, striking arches, and no less than six fireplaces.
The brownstone at 64 Perry St. was last sold in 2012 to an anonymous buyer — whose family is now only the third one to share Carrie Bradshaw apartment address since it was built — for an impressive $9.85 million, $200,000 above the asking price.
The neighboring townhouse at 66 Perry Street, used from season 3 onwards, does match Carrie’s living situation a bit better, consisting of three rental units.
But they too would be out of her budget; studio apartments in the building were being rented for $3,300 to 3,600/month, with a larger 1-bedroom, 1-bath unit last being listed in 2019 for 5,500/month.
Its famous front stairs, as well as the ones two houses down at 64 Perry Street, are some of the most recognizable landmarks in the Big Apple, on lists that include the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty.
What’s more, Carrie Bradshaw isn’t the only celeb to have lived – either fictionally or literally – at this address.
The building was also home to Tim Gunn from the hit series Project Runway who lived on the top floor for 16 years. It was also used as part of the set for Woody Allen’s Alice in 1990.
Can you rent Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment on Airbnb?
In November 2021, in a PR stunt meant to promote the Sex and The City sequel And Just Like That…, Carrie’s apartment was briefly available for rent on Airbnb for only $23/night — but that was a limited-time offer.
Only two one-night stays were offered to die-hard fans of the show, with Sarah Jessica Parker herself greeting the guests.
“The Carrie Bradshaw character is near and dear to my heart, and revisiting her world for the continuation of the Sex and the City story has been such a joy,” said Parker.
“I’m excited for our audience to experience Carrie’s New York like never before and walk in her shoes, quite literally, for the first time.“
The apartment isn’t otherwise available for rent.
But Airbnb often partners with filmmakers for limited-time rentals of iconic movie and TV homes: the Home Alone house got the same treatment in 2021, as did the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air house when the reunion episode ran in 2020, and the Hocus Pocus house when the 2022 sequel was released (also starring Sarah Jessica Parker).
So you can’t rent it, but can you visit the apartment?
Of course you can. Well, the exterior, that is.
You can visit the apartment exterior on your own — Perry Street is just a six-minute walk from the subway — or you can join an organized group tour that visits all the famous spots from Sex and the City, including the Magnolia Bakery, Charlotte’s gallery, and Jimmy Choos.
But when you visit the Carrie Bradshaw apartment on Perry Street, make sure you respect the privacy of the residents who actually live here.
Hundreds of tourists visit the apartment every week for a glimpse of the film set and the novelty has definitely worn off for residents.
They have erected a chain and sign that reads “Do NOT go on the staircase please” to stop tourists from getting too close to their homes.
They also petitioned — and won — to stop Sex and the City tour buses from stopping directly outside of the building.
In fact, they are so set on privacy, they’ve even had the Google Street View image of the apartment’s exterior blurred out on Google Maps! They don’t do things in halves, that’s for sure.
Despite the fact that the Carrie Bradshaw apartment doesn’t exist as it does in the series, the exterior is still worth a visit — even if only to join the ranks of drunks girls declaring their undying love for Big and to admire Perry Street residents’ increasingly imaginative measures to stop tourists from dancing on their doorsteps.
If not, you might just have to settle like the rest of us with the charming interior shots forever etched in our memory after watching the show over and over again throughout the years.
And add some new visual memories to the vault thanks to the sequel series, which gives a rightful central role to the iconic New York apartment that we’ve always associated with Sarah Jessica Parker’s most memorable character.

If you’re a die-hard scary movie fan, you might recognize that line from one of the greatest and most influential slasher films of all time, the original Halloween, released in October 1978.
Directed by the legendary John Carpenter, produced by Debra Hill, and starring a then-unknown Jamie Lee Curtis, Halloween managed to do something that we didn’t think was possible: make Halloween night legit scary, not just for kids, but for adults, as well.
And what better time to pay a visit to Michael Myers’ house than now, when a new Halloween movie release is right around the corner?
Sadly, Halloween Ends, coming in theaters on October 14, 2022, the 13th installment in the series, will also be the last.
After 44 years, Carpenter and Curtis are calling it a day, and hopefully, we’ll get to see the end of slasher Michael Myers once and for all.
But even as the iconic franchise comes to an end, something will live on: the creepy childhood home of Michael Myers that appears in most of the movies in the franchise.
Because yes, the house is real, and you can go over and have a look. From a safe distance, of course.
Where is Michael Myers’ house located?
The childhood home of creepy kid Michael Myers, who murders his sister for no explicable reason at the start of the original movie, is located in the fictional town of Haddonfield, Illinois. But in real life, you’ll find it in sunny California, in South Pasadena, at 1000 Mission Street.
The fictional town in the Halloween movies took its name from Haddonfield, New Jersey, where producer and screenwriter Debra Hill was born.
Sadly, or luckily, Haddonfield, Illinois, isn’t a real place, but South Pasadena in California is.
That’s where the original Halloween movie was filmed, and where the infamous home of the Myers family can be found — more precisely, at 1000 Mission Street.
The house was built in 1888, which makes it one of Pasadena’s oldest surviving duplex-style residences — possibly the oldest.
Its construction reportedly marked the arrival of settlers from Indiana to California, where they left their mark on the local architecture, blending Midwestern-centric details into the design of the homes.
That Midwestern-influenced design was one of the reasons why the house was chosen to be the fictitious home of Michael Myers in Haddonfield, Illinois.
As they were preparing to shoot the original Halloween movie in 1978, the film crew had to spruce and fix up the house, and get it ready for its on-camera debut.
The opening scenes in the movie showcase the Myers house both inside and out, as little Michael Myers murders his older sister in her upstairs bedroom.
Can you visit the Michael Myers house?
We realize that Michael Myers’ home is one of the top bucket list destinations for any true horror fan, much like Stephen King’s home in Bangor, Maine, the Stanley Hotel from The Shining, the Amityville house, or the one in The Exorcist, just to name a few.
But can you go visit the classic Halloween house?
The house you see in the original Halloween film is a real home that’s still standing today, looking pretty much the same way it looked back in 1978.
However, it’s got a new address now.
The house was originally located at 709 Meridian Avenue, and it was set to be bulldozed in 1987 to make way for a hospital.
Luckily, fans and historians rallied against this decision and the home was simply moved to a new location at 1000 Mission Street, where it still stands today.
Halloween fans can simply get off the train at the Mission Street station and there they’ll find the iconic Myers home in all its glory.
Interestingly enough, the new location means that the house is right across the street from Nichol’s Hardware store, where Laurie and Anne hang out in the movie.
What’s more, there’s no danger of the house ever facing demolition again, as it was recognized by South Pasadena as one of the city’s historic landmarks.
The Century House (as the iconic Halloween filming location has also been known), is now South Pasadena Cultural Landmark No. 34.
Sadly, you can only check out Michael Myers’ home from the outside, as the property currently houses a chiropractor’s office. Also, please remember that this is a private property and that — even though there’s no slasher Michael Myers around to get you — it’s important to respect the owners’ privacy and not tresspass.
Of course, there is another option.
If you cannot travel all the way to California just to see the Halloween house from the outside, you can always head to Hillsborough, North Carolina, and visit a life-size replica of the infamous Myers home.
The house is the personal residence of Kenny Caperton, a major horror movie fan, and he’s always eager to welcome other Halloween buffs into his home!
The end of an era: ‘Halloween Ends’
The first Halloween movie had such a huge impact on American cinema and became a trendsetter in the world of horror, slasher, and suspense movies, that it was selected by the Library of Congress to be preserved in the U.S. National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”
The Myers home was featured in most of the Halloween franchise movies and has become instantly recognizable to any movie buff.
This October, the 13th — and sadly, the final — installment in the classic Halloween franchise will be released, and we’re hoping to revisit the Myers home one last time.

Four years after Laurie Strode confronted Michael Myers in Halloween Kills, the two are set to meet again, for the last time, and we’re all waiting with bated breath to see whether good or evil will win in the end.
A fun fact for Fancy Pants Homes readers: Kyle Richards, one of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, was a child actor that played the 8-year-old Lindsey Wallace in the original 1978 movie.
She reprised her role in Halloween Kills and will also be appearing in the new movie.
Save the date: the release of Halloween Ends will bring extra thrills this fall, and will be hitting theaters on October 14!

And we couldn’t help but do some digging on their digs.
Especially since a new CNN original series titled The Murdochs: Empire of Influence sheds light on Rupert Murdoch’s massive media empire in a seven-part documentary/family drama that rivals HBO’s Succession.
Continue reading about the Murdoch family’s lavish homes and their impressive real estate empire.
Rupert Murdoch’s homes
Sure he knows all about the media, but Rupert Murdoch also knows a thing or two about investments. Real estate investments, in particular.
For some serious real estate envy, let’s take a look at the billionaire’s posh properties across the globe.
Montana cattle ranch
Montana is for millionaires!
Just ask Rupert Murdoch and his newly divorced ex-wife Jerry Hall.
The News Corp Chairman and CEO, 91, and the former model, 66, purchased a sprawling Montana cattle ranch in 2021, Forbes reports.
The former couple paid a whopping $200 million for the massive compound.
The cattle ranch was originally purchased over 70 years ago by Fred C. Koch, the late founder of Koch Industries. Ranked as the second largest private company in the US, the conglomerate has been run for decades by one of his sons, Charles Koch, a well-known Republican donor.
Dubbed Beaverhead Ranch, the 340,000-acre working cattle farm is located in southwest Montana near Yellowstone National Park.

— The Land Report (@landreport) July 19, 2022
Spanning across two different counties, Beaverhead boasts an impressive 50 miles.
Some of the standout features include a 28-mile-long river for trout fishing and 25 homes, which are mostly used by employees.
Marking Montana’s largest ranch transaction in history, ownership of Beaverhead comes with “a profound responsibility,” Murdoch said.
He added: “We feel privileged to assume ownership of this beautiful land and look forward to continually enhancing both the commercial cattle business and the conservation assets across the ranch.”
Bel-Air winery
In 2013, Murdoch purchased Moraga Vineyards and Estate, a 13-acre winery and mansion in Bel-Air, Calif.
Shelling out $28.8 million for the California compound, Murdoch is the proud owner of the winery, which sells a Bordeaux-style red for $175 and a sauvignon blanc for $115.
The main residence is a 7,500-square-foot Mediterranean-style mansion built by the estate’s original owner, Academy Award-winning film director Victor Fleming.
Flemming erected the home back in the 1930s and conceived his masterpieces Gone with the Wind and The Wizard of Oz in the vineyard’s inspiring setting.
New York City penthouse
It goes without saying, every billionaire needs a penthouse in NYC.
Located at the foot of Madison Square Park, Murdoch coughed up $57 million in 2014 for the top three floors of the glassy One Madison condominium tower. The media mogul also bought another full-floor apartment beneath it.
Boasting 360-degree views of the Big Apple, the penthouse portion alone spans nearly 7,600 square feet.
But the patriarch of the Murdoch family may not get to enjoy his NYC pad for much longer.
Early in 2022, Rupert Murdoch decided to part ways with his swanky Manhattan condos, listing the 3-level penthouse at One Madison and another full-floor apartment he owns on the 57th floor for sale, asking $78 million for the two condos.
English estate
Just a few years into their marriage (his fourth and her second), Murdoch and Hall purchased an English estate in 2019.
The 18th-century house and estate is located in the English village of Binfield Heath, which is just northeast of Reading.
And it sounds like a piece of Oxfordshire countryside heaven.
The $12 million English estate is known as Holmwood House, a Grade II listed Georgian property near Henley-on-Thames.
According to Daily Mail, the house was once a haven for 19th Century poets Algernon Charles Swinburne and Lord Tennyson.
Built in the 1700s, the property boasts 26 acres and offers a list of luxurious features, including a library, ballet studio, infinity pool and 11 bedrooms each with a bathroom.
Not to mention the three guest houses.
Australia ranch
Before he was a billionaire media mogul, Murdoch purchased a ranch located in his native Australia.
Known as Cavan Station, Murdoch purchased the ranch in the mid-1960s.
The property played a significant role in Australia’s production of fine wool and today operates as a roughly 25,000-acre sheep and cattle ranch in New South Wales.
The Murdoch family real estate portfolio
What about the rest of those wealthy Murdochs?
Papa Rupert isn’t the only one with posh pads. A few of his children (he has fathered six) are also savvy when it comes to real estate investments.
Here’s a look at some of the other Murdoch family luxurious estates.
Lachlan Murdoch’s house
Lachlan Murdoch, the 51-year-old son of Rupert Murdoch is also living in the lap of luxury.
The businessman and mass media heir paid a whopping $150 million for an already-famous estate in Los Angeles’ Bel-Air neighborhood. If that sounds like a lot, it is.
In fact, it’s a local record.
As it turns out, Lachlan is the proud owner of the most expensive home ever sold in the city.
According to CNBC, the well-to-do heir purchased the California compound in 2019.
Prior to the eldest son of Murdoch, the property was owned by billionaire media mogul Jerry Perenchio, one-time Univision chairman and CEO, who died in 2017.
Spanning 25,000-square-foot, the mega-mansion boasts 11 bedrooms and 18 bathrooms, a 12,000-bottle wine cellar, a 75-foot swimming pool, acres of private gardens, and secret underground tunnels.
The 10-acre property is known as Chartwell Estate, and its exterior was used in the credits of The Beverly Hillbillies TV series.
James Murdoch’s homes
In 2014, patriarch Rupert Murdoch sold his Beverly Hills manse for $30 million.
And he kept it in the family.
The multi-million dollar paycheck came from none other than his younger son James.
According to Dirt, the plush property sits on 6.4 acres in the 90210. Since it was never publicly offered for sale, there are no pictures available, so we’ll have to settle for a Google Earth view of the property.
Designed by vaunted architect Wallace Neff and built in the mid 1920s for film pioneer Fred Niblo and Australia-born actress Enid Bennett, the mansion offers 8,651 square feet of luxurious living space.
Featuring 11 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms, the stunning estate is crab-shaped with a circular forecourt on the main house, as pictured above.
In case the ‘big one’ hits Los Angeles, James is building an ‘end of times’ home up north.
Located in a remote part of Canada, the home is designed to be self-sufficient, Daily Mail reports.
The custom home will have the capacity to provide its own water as well as solar-powered energy.
In 2013, James paid $1.3 million for the property in beautiful British Columbia. The 445-acre property in western Canada is located in Nascall Bay in the Dean Channel — about an hour from Bella Coola by boat.
According to Coast Mountain News, the custom home features an apocalyptic-style bunker.
The remote property boasts a cedar six-plex with 6 double rooms, bathrooms, and a common room, a two-room cabin overlooking the water, two cedar one-bedroom fully self-contained cabins, a 1300-foot gravel landing strip, three kilometers of road that leads to a boat launch at Nascall Lake, a floating restaurant that seats 25, and a 100-foot cedar dock for large boats and floatplanes.
Elisabeth Murdoch’s home
Located in southern England, Murdoch’s daughter Elisabeth is building a multi-million dollar mansion for her family of six.
According to Daily Mail, the massive compound located on the fringe of the Cotswolds will be one of the most expensive properties in the country, once construction is finished.

Estimated to be worth tens of millions, the manse will have an indoor, zinc-clad swimming pool, spa, tennis court, three terraces, two dining rooms, a double-height entrance hall, and nine bedrooms – each with its own bathroom.
The home will also feature a cinema, gallery, and plant room, parking for 15 cars, a wooded area and formal fruit, flower and vegetable gardens.
Needless to say, the Murdochs are living large.

These days he has well over 300 million Instagram followers, an envy-worthy film career, and his own tequila brand, but it wasn’t an easy journey to the top.
Believe it or not, Johnson started out as a college football player at the University of Miami and aspired to play it professionally. When that didn’t pan out, he turned to the world of wrestling.
With his unmatchable techniques and endearing catchphrase (Can you smell what The Rock is cooking?), he became one of the most popular WWE wrestlers around.
In case you’ve ever wondered about his wrestling persona, The Rock’s backstory is that he’s an executive chef who specializes in Croquembouche (so that’s what he was cooking).
Since then, Johnson has had a ROCKing Hollywood career, started his own production company, become co-owner of a football league, and been unstoppable!
The best part is that despite building a billion-dollar brand, he’s still as humble and lovable as ever. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t living large!
Dwayne Johnson lives in a beautiful $27.8 million mansion in Los Angeles’ exclusive Beverly Park neighborhood, along with wife Lauren Hashian and their adorable kids.
Dwayne Johnson’s house has a star-studded past (and present)
The Rock bought his dream home from fellow actor and comedian, Paul Reiser, of Mad About You fame.
Before that, it was owned by musician and rock star Alex Van Halen, who built the breathtaking property in 1993.
The house sits on 3.67 acres of land and is considered to be among the largest (and most private) properties in the neighborhood. And not just any neighborhood.
The Rock’s house is set in Beverly Park, Los Angeles’ most exclusive neighborhood, home to countless A-listers.
Johnson, one of the best-paid actors in Hollywood, has equally famous neighbors like Denzel Washington, Sofia Vergara, Eddie Murphy, Rod Stewart, and Adele, to name a few.
His estate was described as “a complete resort” in a previous listing and, after taking a look at it, we have to agree that it’s indeed a palatial property worthy of the moniker.
Built in 1993, the Mediterranean-style abode — designed and renovated by architect Grant Kirkpatrick — features 6 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms spread across 17,630 square feet of space and two structures.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson purchased it back in April 2021 for $27,750,000, a 7.5% discount from its ambitious $29,990,000 listing price.
We love the ‘Tuscan feel’ of the property
Located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac behind massive iron gates, the private estate first wows visitors with its mature trees and manicured lawns.
The stunning olive tree-lined driveway leads to a pea gravel motor court that features a stone fountain.
Adding to the Mediterranean vibe are a series of ivy archways, an eye-catching red-tiled roof, airy balconies, and covered loggias. There are also many gates for easy access in and out of the property.
Massive French doors open to the backyard and there are dreamy, serene trails all over. With so much natural beauty, it feels like a postcard from the Tuscan countryside.
The property has a colossal 18,000 square feet of living space spread across the main mansion as well as the detached 2,500-square-foot guesthouse.
What really makes this estate fit for a (scorpion) king are the top-notch amenities.
Think world-class gym, full-sized tennis court, movie theater, baseball diamond, a music studio that was originally installed by Van Halen, an elevator, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a spa — which makes it sound like an amazing private retreat.
For a closer look at The Rock’s house, head to his Instagram profile
Dwayne Johnson is many things but perhaps his most important role of all is being a loving husband and a doting dad-of-three.
His Insta page is a treasure house of precious moments with his family, especially his youngest daughters, Jasmine and Tiana.
It also gives fans the chance to take a closer look at what the interiors of his home are like.
From his daughters’ bedrooms, the chic living room, the gorgeous kitchen, and the perfectly pruned flower beds in the garden, Johnson and his wife seem to have impeccable taste when it comes to décor.
The front of the mansion features a large white door with pillars on either side that the family loves to decorate for the season.
Johnson’s favorite feature in the house, of course, is the gym, which he has dubbed his “Iron Paradise.”
When they’re not in California, the family often spends time in Powder Springs, Georgia where the star owns a 45-acre equestrian estate — though not for long, as the property has been listed for sale.
With Johnson slated to make his DC debut as Black Adam soon, we can only see bigger and brighter things in his future! Which might just as well mean more stunning million-dollar homes for us to gawk at. So stay tuned!

The history of San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury neighborhood, the hippie mecca of the ’60s

That’s what psychologist and psychedelic-fan Timothy Leary told a crowd of young rebels in San Francisco in 1967.
The legendary ‘Summer of Love’ was just starting in the city, a season of love, peace, music, and naturally, of psychedelic substances.
Why is Haight-Ashbury famous?
At the time, San Francisco, and the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood, in particular, was considered the counterculture Mecca.
Long-haired, bearded hippies from across the country were flocking to the area, almost like pilgrims.
Walking along the streets of Haight-Ashbury, lined with colorful Victorian houses and lots of music stores and head shops, it was not unusual to run into locals like Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jerry Garcia, Grace Slick, or even Sid Vicious (who lived in California for a while before his untimely death).
These legendary musicians were at the forefront of the counterculture movement in San Francisco, and most of them resided in the funky houses of Haight-Ashbury.
So what was the appeal of this neighborhood?
Why did so many rebellious teens and adults flock to this area in the late 1960s?
The transformation of Haight-Ashbury into a veritable counterculture Mecca started well before the hippies invaded it.
Named for the intersection of Haight and Ashbury Streets (very original indeed, we know), the neighborhood was definitely not a cool place to hang out before the Summer of Love.
Quite the contrary, it was boring, lifeless, and mostly underpopulated, but that was to change dramatically soon enough.
It all started in the late 1950s when the Beats (which included the likes of Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, or William S. Burroughs) started to hang out in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood.
The high density of talented writers and poets that flocked to the area kickstarted what is known as the San Francisco Renaissance, the precursor to the Summer of Love, if you will.
The only problem was that North Beach was getting expensive, especially for beatnik poets, so many artists of the Beat Generation started moving West towards Haight-Ashbury, which was cheap and mostly vacant.
Haight-Ashbury had become underpopulated because of a proposed freeway that was supposed to pass right through it.
Sometime in the 1950s, local authorities revealed plans for a freeway that would run through the Panhandle.
Luckily, local communities protested against it, and eventually, the plan was scrapped in 1966.
However, many people moved out of the area during the late 1950s and early 1960s, driven away by the potential freeway that would destroy their idyllic life in the Haights.
The neighborhood didn’t remain dormant for too long, however.
Because housing prices were so low, and there were so many abandoned or available properties sitting empty, Haight-Ashbury was the perfect escape for the youth of the counterculture movement.
Rebelling against the government, against war, against their parents, against capitalist society as a whole, teens and young adults moved into the colorful Victorian houses of Haight-Ashbury, paving the way for a historic summer that would firmly establish this unassuming San Francisco neighborhood as the epicenter of the counterculture movement.
The Summer of Love
Once people started moving into Haight-Ashbury, the neighborhood flourished.
Music and art were everywhere, long hair and beards were overflowing, peace signs were plastered across every street and every fringed suede vest, and there was something magical in the air — most likely, weed.
The late 1960s is when everyone discovered marijuana and psychedelic drugs, and in the rebellious hippie community, acid trips were a normal part of the daily routine.
People would go to Haight-Ashbury and get high in various ways; either with psychedelics or getting high on music and art.
Impromptu performances by The Grateful Dead or Janis Joplin with Big Brother and the Holding Company were common, magical moments encapsulated in a thick fog of peace, love, and illicit substances.
Hunter S. Thompson even labeled the neighborhood ‘Hashbury,’ for obvious reasons.
Marijuana and LSD were essentials, and you could find head shops on basically every street corner — the first shop in the area, Ron and Jay Thelin’s Psychedelic Shop, opened in January 1966, and quickly became a popular target for locals.
As Haight-Ashbury flourished under the peaceful invasion of young hippies, the musical scene in the U.S. had also started to change.
Psychedelic rock finally entered the mainstream, and musicians like Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and Jefferson Airplane were getting a lot of radio play and media exposure.
Scott McKenzie’s now-iconic song ‘San Francisco’ mixed the two worlds together, and further established the city as the center of the hippie movement.
Then, in June 1967, local Haight bands got their time in the spotlight at the Monterey International Pop Festival, which gathered names like Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Animals, Otis Redding, and The Byrds, among others.
It was the biggest event of the summer and a historic musical moment in time.
The popularity of Haight-Ashbury and its hippie scene gained even more momentum after that.
Time Magazine ran a cover story on ‘The Hippies: Philosophy of a Subculture,’ while CBS News featured a TV report on ‘The Hippie Temptation.’
With all the media coverage, radio play, and word-of-mouth, Haight-Ashbury went from boring and underpopulated to lively and overpopulated. It was the beginning of the end.
‘The Death of the Hippie’
The counterculture movement became so popular across the world that people were flocking to the city in astonishing numbers.
Soon enough, the streets of Haight-Ashbury were more crowded than ever, and the neighborhood was unable to accommodate the rapid influx of people.
The scene deteriorated fast, and the neighborhood was soon overcome with homelessness, drug problems, and crime.
Then came autumn, and many carefree rebels left the city to go to college and resume ‘normal adult life.’
Those who were left behind even staged a mock funeral in early October 1967 to commemorate ‘the Death of the Hippie,’ effectively putting an end to the Summer of Love.
The counterculture movement went on for another couple of years; many of the local Haights musicians claimed their way to fame at Woodstock in 1969, which is considered by many to be a bigger, more mainstream version of the Monterey Pop Festival and the peak of the hippie era.
However, this era officially came to a desolate halt in December 1969 at The Altamont Free Concert; four births, four accidental deaths, and one murder took place at the festival.
The days of peace, love, and music were turning into something very different.
In Haight-Ashbury, peace and love quickly turned into crime and poverty, and drug use and homelessness were rampant after 1968.
This led many people to pack up their guitars and move on to greener pastures, putting an end to the carefree hippie days of the neighborhood.
However, the legacy would remain, and the spirit of the counterculture movement would never be erased from the streets of Haight-Ashbury.
To this day, you’ll find head shops, guitar shops, record shops, psychedelic art galleries, bohemian fashion stores, and other Summer-of-Love-inspired establishments on every street.
If You’re Going to Haight-Ashbury Today
Walking around Haight-Ashbury today, nostalgia hits hard.
You can check out the infamous Red Victorian Hotel; it was built in 1904 as the Jefferson Hotel and served as a ‘free crash pad house’ during the Summer of Love.
Golden Gate Park, the Haight Street Market, the colorful row of Victorian homes known as the Painted Ladies, the Amoeba record store, and Piedmont Boutique should all be on your must-see list if you’re visiting.
Also make sure to notice the clock at the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, which is conveniently perpetually stuck at 4:20 pm.
Who lived in Haight-Ashbury in the ’60s?
If you’re a music fan who grew up listening to Hendrix and Joplin, or a hippie veteran looking to reminisce about the good old carefree days, you can take a tour and visit some of the homes that once housed legendary artists and musicians.
Below is a list of the ones we think are worth taking a look at during your evening stroll.
*That last one might not seem like it belongs on the list, but Charles Manson’s dream (before he became the most notorious bad guy in history) was to be a musician – a famous one, that is.
He wanted to be part of the counterculture scene and hang out with the local Haight musicians, but he was never able to fit in.
Manson even recorded tracks at Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson’s home studio in 1968, but Wilson didn’t think the music was good enough to be released, which angered Manson to no end.
He kept making music even while incarcerated, never able to give up on his dream of being an established, revered musician.
Living in Haight-Ashbury
The Haight-Ashbury neighborhood has come a far, far way from the desolate, eerie, and affordable days before the counterculture movement took over.
It’s one of the most popular destinations for nostalgic tourists, who flock to the area every year to get a feel for what it must’ve been like to roam those same streets more than 50 years ago.
It’s also an appealing destination for young people who want to enjoy live music events, a bohemian lifestyle, and busy nightlife, and as a result, 83% of the local population is made up of renters, while just 17% own their own homes.
Rent does not come cheap, though: the median rent is roughly $2,500 per month, well above the national rent of $1,096.
Median home values are also nowhere near the low numbers of the late 1950s: purchasing a home in Haight-Ashbury will cost you about $1,544,420, according to Niche.com.
So, if you’re going to San Francisco, and Haight-Ashbury in particular, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair and some cash in your pocket.
And if you’re looking for a great place to stay while there, here are some of your best options:

There may be a few skeptics and naysayers, but as it turns out some fairytales do come true.
Just take a look at this breathtaking cottage reminiscent of the one from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and you will know what we mean.
Located in the very stylish-yet-quaint Larchmont Village neighborhood of Los Angeles, this unique home belonged to Adriana Caselotti, the voice of the original Snow White in the first full-length animated Disney classic, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.
Caselotti was awarded the title of Disney Legend in 1994 for her iconic role as the first Snow White in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, making her the first female voiceover artist to achieve this.
The home was custom-built in the 1970s for the late actress who dabbled in real estate and the stock market.
From the looks of it, the iconic actress took her onscreen role pretty seriously as she even designed the space herself.
Caselotti sold the home to Emmy-nominated TV screenwriter/producer Karey Dornetto back in May 2012 who has since carried out many renovations.
This piece of Hollywood history is up for grabs for $2.098 million, with John Kostrey and Jennifer Eckert of Nourmand & Associates holding the listing.
The house itself spans over 2,200 square feet of living space and includes 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.
Walk in through the majestic double doors and you will find yourself in a great room with soaring 18-foot cedar wood ceilings, gorgeous white oak floors, and an open living and dining space.
The living room also features a built-in wet bar with a monkey pod wood bar top. Cross-hatched windows lead to the adjoining room where a stained-glass window adds to the beauty of the space.
The chef’s kitchen comes complete with marble countertops, top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances, custom cabinets, and an impressive kitchen island that is the perfect spot for Snow White to hang out with the seven dwarves and more.
The property includes an office, a powder room, a walk-in pantry, and a bonus room which would make the perfect art studio, gym, playroom, walk-in closet, or additional bedroom.
Sliding doors lead to the impressive outside patio where there are two outdoor decks nestled behind tall hedges, and of course, the pièce de résistance – Snow White’s Wishing Well with the words “I’m wishing.”
The fully gated cottage offers immense privacy and even comes with a two-car garage.
The original design also featured a lovely Japanese-style bridge and while it was removed during renovation, this is still the kind of cottage that can transport you to another time and place.

Daymond John’s home
Daymond John, founder of apparel company FUBU, invested in the most successful product (ever!) on Shark Tank.
With more than $225 million in lifetime sales, Bombas (a company that sells comfort socks and T-shirts) is the greatest success story from the reality show.
And Daymond John is laughing all the way to the bank.
The business magnate and wife Heather are raising their daughter Minka in a luxurious high-rise apartment in New York City.
Heather’s Instagram page often showcases their NYC home, featuring a large playroom for Minka, a stunning fireplace, and a beautiful master bedroom.

On weekends, the Johns often travel north to their cabin in Dutchess County. The property in rural New York sits on several hundred acres, New York Times reports.
And it sounds like life is better at the lake.
“I’ll wake up at 5:30 because the fish don’t wait for anybody,” Daymond said of life at the cabin.
“When I look on my lake, the fog is generally very, very thick. I know then that I’m on time to catch the fish. It’s summertime, so the air is decent. Hopefully I’ll usually catch maybe 15 largemouth bass. That’s a great day. Let’s say eight — let’s average it off at eight.”
Barbara Corcoran’s home
With sales over $150 million, Barbara Corcoran invested in one of the show’s most successful products: The Original Comfy.
The real estate entrepreneur got herself a 30% stake in the company that makes wearable blankets with hoods. And with all that cash, she’s certainly comfy in her crib.
Barbara Corcoran and husband Bill Higgins live with their children Tom and Katie in a stunning NYC penthouse set in Manhattan’s posh Upper East Side.
According to Hello!, Barbara bought the home in 2015 for $10 million.
Featuring four bedrooms and seven bathrooms, the penthouse has its own games room, a 16-foot glass conservatory, and a rooftop terrace with sweeping views of the city.
The self-made millionaire opened up to People about her stunning penthouse.
“Years ago I was trying to get my old business, the Corcoran Group, through some hard times, so I took a second job as a messenger. I was delivering an envelope to the woman who lived here, and when she opened the door off the elevator, I saw that terrace,” she said, pointing to the spectacular outdoor space with views across Central Park.
“I said, ‘Excuse me, ma’am, but if you ever sell this place, will you call me first?’”
She added: “But what do you think happened 25 years later? I got rich. I sold my business. She knew who I was, and she called me first.”
Robert Herjavec’s home
Among many other savvy money moves, shark Robert Herjavec invested in Tipsy Elves, holiday-themed apparel in the form of ugly Christmas sweaters that generated over $125 million in sales.
As it turns out, that was quite a lucrative bite for the Canadian shark.
According to Financial Post, the Canadian entrepreneur bought a luxury condo in New York City in 2021.
And it sounds like he got a ‘great deal’ on the swanky suite.
Robert paid $34.5 million for the condo located in the building known as One57 in midtown Manhattan. Reportedly, the home was listed for $45 million one year prior.
Featuring four bedrooms, the 6,200-square-foot apartment Robert Herjavec calls home spans across an entire floor of the 75-story building on West 57th Street, with a grand salon that overlooks Central Park.

It sounds like the self-made millionaire and wife Kym Johnson are raising their twins Hudson and Haven in NYC for now.
In 2021, they sold their home in Hidden Hills for $17 million. Prior to that, Robert sold his multi-million dollar mansion in Toronto for the same amount.
Kevin O’Leary’s home
Known as Mr. Wonderful, Canadian entrepreneur Kevin O’Leary and his wife Linda have raised their children Savannah and Trevor at their main home in Toronto, Ontario.
But the O’Learys love their additional properties as well.
When looking at his sharkalytics, we see Kevin has invested over $8 million on Shark Tank, with 40 deals across 131 episodes.
Indeed, he can afford a few fabulous homes!
Besides their Toronto estate, the O’Learys own additional properties in Muskoka, Boston, and Geneva in Switzerland.
The O’Leary Canadian cottage located on Lake Joseph features a stunning waterfront view.

Lori Greiner’s home
Lori Greiner knows a thing or two about good hair.
Not only does the savvy businesswoman have lovely locks of her own, she’s helped millions ease their daily hair routines.
Lori invested a considerable amount for a 25% stake in Sleep Styler, which has turned out to be one of the show’s greatest success stories.
The heat-free hair rollers created from memory foam are worn while sleeping, and they’ve produced more than $100 million in sales.
That beautiful blonde hair of Lori’s rests comfortably in her stunning estate in Chicago.

A prolific house flipper, Ellen DeGeneres — alongside wife Portia de Rossi — just sold another Montecito mansion at a huge profit, less than 6 months after buying it.
According to Architectural Digest, the talk show host sold the property for $36 million after paying only $21 million for the Moorish-style mansion in early 2022.
The buyer is none other than music mogul Scooter Braun, best known for managing some of the biggest names in the industry, including Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, and David Guetta.
This isn’t Braun’s first high-profile purchase.
Just last year, the record executive splurged $65 million on a newly-built contemporary mansion in Brentwood, Los Angeles, following his split from wife Yael Cohen.
And Braun’s new abode is even more impressive than his last.
An imposing structure seemingly plucked out of the rolling hills of Spain, Villa Tragara is a Moorish-style estate with Spanish and Italianate influences built by TV commercials director Kinka Usher.
The custom-built house blends Spanish, Italianate, and Moorish architecture
At first glance, you’d think the estate is located somewhere on a secluded hilltop in Spain.
And you wouldn’t be completely off base, as the villa was actually modeled after the mesmerizing Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain.
Featuring 11,947 square feet of luxurious living space, Villa Tragara is currently configured as a three-bedroom — but has plenty of space that can be turned into additional bedrooms.
Its design seamlessly blends Spanish, Italianate, and Moorish architecture, resulting in a magnificent display of opulence and elegance.
The estate was custom-built in 2014 by MG Partners for Kinka Usher, an acclaimed TV commercial director who has worked with clients like Nike, Pepsi and Taco Bell.
The exquisite mansion incorporates imported, antique and time-honored materials, which blend perfectly with modern designs and features.
State-of-the-art technology systems have been discreetly built into the property — which boasts Crestron automation, geo-thermal cooling and radiant heating, and a movie theater with surround sound and DLP cinema projector.
We first covered the magnificent property when it was initially listed in August 2019 — please note that the photos and reporting below date back to that time. Since then, the property has seen some changes (after Ellen took ownership), and its representation changed as well.
Villa Tragara was initially listed with The Agency founder and president Billy Rose, but reports of Ellen’s purchase indicate that Nancy Kogevinas of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties held the listing when the TV show host bought it.
DeGeneres then sold it to Scooter Braun in an off-market deal, meaning little information is available on who helped close on the latest sale or what type of changes Ellen made to the property during her brief ownership.
A look inside the striking Montecito mansion
The interiors of the Moorish-style house are just as impressive as its architecture.
The living room connects the indoors with the outdoors through walls of double-height glass and steel doors and windows, offering extraordinary views of the property grounds and of the ocean.
The entire living room and dining area, which incorporates a top-class kitchen and plenty of lounging areas, is completely bathed in natural light, and is the focal point of this estate.
The dining room also overlooks a large koi pond and impeccably manicured grounds.
Speaking of the property grounds, the house lies on an expansive 2.45-acre lot, replete with olive orchard trees, numerous mature trees, and a 90,000-gallon swimming pond.
There’s also a heated pool, waterfalls, bocci and pickleball courts, a firepit, two large lawns for small events, and a grand lawn for formal parties and large events.
But wait, there’s more.
The estate also includes a floating Japanese pavilion above the koi pond, and a 16-seat covered pergola with an outdoor kitchen that features a pizza oven and barbecue, perfect for entertaining guests or enjoying the summer weekends.
There’s also a spring-fed well and a 12,000-gallon cistern that provide enough water throughout the year to serve the entire grounds, and even the house, if needed.
Ellen sure knows how to pick them.
The property comes with an attached guest house that features a living room, a kitchen, and a bedroom suite.
Two master suites are incorporated in the house, one boasting floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides, a large covered terrace, and a spa-like lavatory.
While the villa may seem incredibly secluded and remote, it’s actually located in the heart of Montecito, a popular destination for celebrities.
Oprah, Gwyneth Paltrow, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle all live in the area.
The location is conveniently close to beaches, shops, and restaurants in the Upper and Lower Villages, while the Four Seasons Biltmore, San Ysidro Ranch, and the Rosewood Miramar Beach Hotel are also nearby, and they offer a plethora of amenities via their membership clubs.
Ellen and wife Portia de Rossi have long been snapping up Montecito real estate — and they currently own several houses here.
Just three months ago, they sold another estate in the area for $13.5 million, one they had paid $12 million for back in September of last year.
But that deal pales in comparison to the profit they made off of this last sale.
While we don’t know how much money the couple invested in property renovations before selling to Scooter Braun, Ellen and Portia spent $21 million to buy the property, raking in a $15 million profit from the $36 million sale.
