DOE Sets $550M for Energy Efficiency Project Grants
Abstract
DOE issued a notice of intent Nov. 28 to release details and requirements to state, local and tribal governments interested in applying for project funding through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program. The program seeks to help local governments, states and tribes reduce fossil fuel emissions and total energy usage, and improve the efficiency of transportation infrastructure, buildings and other sectors. The grants can be used to implement a wide range of energy efficiency and conservation projects. About 68 per cent of the funds go to local governments. The money will be available. The funds will go to states and 2% to tribes. The funding is available until all of it is claimed. The government will open the grant application in January 2023, with no calendar deadline to be claimed.
