Encore Electric celebrated the opening of its new prefabrication and tool center with a ribbon-cutting on April 7. The 67,000-sq-ft facility is an economic and workforce development engine, serving customers and projects across the Rocky Mountain West. It is located at 12900 E. Smith Road, Suite 200, in Aurora, Colo. The center features stations where materials are created—like pipe bends for conduit, junction boxes, circuit panels and breakers—as well as sections for welding, tools and technology solutions prefabrication and training.  Many Encore Electric apprentices start their careers in prefabrication, gaining hands-on experience while manufacturing the components.  “We invested into this new prefabrication and tool center as a commitment to our customers, employees and the community,” said Willis Wiedel, Encore Electric president. “We are bringing together virtual design and construction with prefabrication, tools and technology solutions to support Encore Electric projects and to create career paths for our craftspeople.”

Mortenson Development Inc., working in partnership with Seavest Healthcare Properties LLC, has completed a 43,732-sq-ft, Class A medical office building in Arvada, Colo. The facility, anchored by SCL Health, will serve the growing Candelas master-planned community. The two-story structure, designed by Davis Partnership Architects, broke ground in July 2020. The Candelas facility is the first project in which Mortenson acted as a developer-owner for the health care nonprofit. Mortenson also was responsible for site planning and design services for the development, including managing all entitlements and city approvals.  “Health care delivery methods and consumer preferences are evolving rapidly, and access to quality care in our communities has never been more important,” said Taber Sweet, director of real estate development at Mortenson in Denver. “Despite all the challenges of the past year, our development and construction teams have managed to keep this vital project on track for delivery to the Candelas community.”
