Inspiring Container Plantings - FineGardening
Abstract
Hunter joined the nursery part-time last year, and he has designed so many amazing spring and summer containers, in all sizes. This container features dramatic color contrasts, with dark foliage from sweet potato vine and bright yellow leaves of a sedge, while a dark calla lily echoes the dark foliage. Dark foliage from heuchera, black mondo grass and lysimachia makes the perfect backdrop to bright silver foliage from lavender and the white flowers of sweet alyssum. Gold sedge foliage sets off a dark-leaved New Guinea impatiens A small succulent planter, with various hens-and-chicks in the center and string-of-pearls tumbling over the edges. A tall ornamental grass gives this container dramatic height. Perennials work equally well in containers as annuals, with a purple-leaved heuchera and a purple-flowered catmint being the main players in this combination. Have a garden you'd like to share?
