L.A. moves closer to ending COVID-19 eviction protections
Abstract
A Los Angeles City Council committee advanced a measure to repeal the rules at the end of January. Under the plan, L.A. landlords will once again be able to evict tenants for unpaid rent and other reasons even if tenants have been affected by COVID-19. The city’s current rules have prohibited such evictions since March 2020. The full City Council still needs to vote on the plan at an upcoming meeting before it takes effect. The council still need to vote for the plan. The decision will take place. The City Council is still to decide on the proposal. The committee is to vote in the next week. The plan will be voted on by the City Council on the next month.
