Mass. Gov. Signs Major Climate Bill
Abstract
The Massachusetts law expands the state’s off-shore wind mandate to 5.6GW, up from 4GW previously, while scrapping price caps on new bids that had lowered interest in the development of new projects. The law also aims to accelerate the transition of the state's transportation sector, boosting incentives for EV purchases and setting a deadline for the phaseout of sales of new gas-powered vehicles and trucks. The bill was signed by Gov. Charlie Baker. The legislation won national attention.
