Off-Court Moves: NBA Star Hassan Whiteside Buys Miami Pied-a-Terre
Abstract
"Everybody has said the same thing about the project. The price point that they came out of the gate with, I think, was very competitive for what they're offering," says Ryan Kelly with Douglas Elliman, who represented Whiteside in the transaction and has closed 14 deals at the building. 'Best of the best' "Like most, he likes the best of the best and he picked the best unit available in the entire building," Kelly says. Kelly says the penthouses like Whiteside's are a bit bigger. Kelly says his sales have ranged from about $420,000 to this sale at $1.2 million, and prices are increasing since demand is high and supply is dwindling. "The clients will have to furnish on their own, but they come finished, so everything besides your actual furniture and window treatments is going to be provided by the developer," Kelly explains. Kelly says some owners are planning to live in their units full time. "A lot of the attraction was because these are investments, and the ability to rent [out] these units is huge," Kelly says.
