Texas Tax Protest Nears 200,000 Over Appraisals - KE Andrews
Abstract
The Dallas Central Appraisal District has received 176,337 protests for residential and business properties. The deadline for the Texas tax protest was May 15th, but mail was still being processed, so the number of protests from home appraisals nears 200,000. The number of protest in Collin County have risen 16% when comparing it to last year. As of Thursday, the Collin Central Appraisal District had received 92,265 protests with the highest increase in protests coming from area cities like McKinney, Plano and Allen. Chandler Crouch of Dallas Realtor said that around 90% of people who protested their appraisals were successful. Crouch said individuals are often hesitant to protest their property tax appeal because they fear they'll be on some type of list that will hurt their property value or that this might trigger a blacklist. The Texas real estate market is booming along with Texas tax protest rates.
