With summer upon us, it’s no wonder we’re thinking about a rustic residence for an easy escape. These charming abodes are often found in secluded spots perfect for a weekend getaway—or an even longer break.

And while many of these types of properties date to the days of yore (the oldest log home still standing in the U.S. is from 1638), there’s no reason buyers have to reach back that far—there are plenty of modern log residences available.
