Taylor Woodrow tipped for £800m Fawley expansion
Woodrow is said to have secured the contract to expand the Fawley oil refinery in Southampton by £800 million.
The Enquirer learns that Taylor Woodrow was chosen over a competing consortium led by Costain by customer ExxonMobil.
The Fawley Strategy (FAST) project has been delayed, but it is currently proceeding with plans to invest in a new diesel plant at the UK's largest oil refinery.
Building activity will sustain up to 1,000 construction jobs at its height.
When finished, it will enhance ultra-low sulphur diesel output by around 45 percent.
The work will entail the construction of a hydrotreater unit to remove sulphur from diesel, which will be backed by a hydrogen plant.
"Taylor Woodrow appear to have got this now after seeing off opposition from Costain," a site insider told the Enquirer. It's a large undertaking that requires a lot of civils labor."
