Atlanta Evictions During the COVID 19 Crisis
Atlanta Evictions During the COVID 19 Crisis
Abstract
Atlanta Property Management Group is handling tenants who don’t pay the rent during the COVID-19 epidemic while the courts are closed. The CARES Act went into effect on March 27, 2020, but there are some implications for our tenants and owner clients in Georgia. This is a strange and unprecedented time for property managers. We usually rely on late fees and eviction filings to motivate tenants to stay current with their rent payments. Even if the CARes Act wasn't in force. We have asked them. We have been asked. and we couldn't move forward with evictions, and we don't know when that will be. The owner either eventually receives all rent owed, and we don't known when that would be. We hope that many of those people will be able to pay their rent. The CarES Act provides some generous benefits for many unemployed people, up to $600 per week
