Ahoy! Moored Boat for Sale in Alaska Needs a Buyer To Come Aboard

If you’ve ever dreamed of a quiet life on a boat in Alaska, this new waterfront listing can help you realize that vision.

Of course, there’s always plenty of waterfront properties for sale in the nation’s largest state, but this particular opportunity comes complete with a fully furnished boat ready for a buyer to come aboard.

Moored in Homer, the $995,000 boat named the Double Eagle was permanently placed along the shoreline in 2004, according to the listing.

At home in Homer

With a population of about 5,500 hardy individuals, the tiny town of Homer sits on Kachemak Bay about 220 miles south of the state capital of Anchorage.

The median list price in Homer is $452,000—this figure might be slightly skewed by the state’s most expensive home. Listed for $9 million, that eight-bedroom waterfront mansion we wrote about in 2020 is still available.

But for a small fraction of that price, you can acquire a landlocked boat with killer views that’s “just the right size for a small family or couple.” Two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms on the vessel provide room to spread out. A wood deck on the starboard side is an ideal spot to relax and bask in the surrounding beauty.

Vacation rental rates

It currently operates as a vacation rental and rates on VRBO show the boat could fetch $395 a night. The math suggests the boat could haul in about $12,000 a month before fees and upkeep costs. The listing on the rental site also explains how this former Gulf Coast tour boat and shrimp boat wound up on dry land in the far, far north.

The home could also be a year-round residence for someone who wants to live light and wake up next to the water every morning. (Note: A new owner will need some sort of heat source to survive the cold Alaskan winters.)

Bryan Zak of Zak’s Realty is the owner of the boat and represents the listing.
