What exactly is a Realtor Rebate?

A Realtor Rebate is a reimbursement given to a customer by a real estate broker or its authorized agent (called Realtor when a member of the National Association of Realtors) after the sale of a house. When representing a house buyer, the agent is often compensated at closing by the seller. This money comes in the form of a commission. The agent would then credit the buyer with a portion of the commission ( the rebate). In most circumstances, the buyer will be performing functions previously performed by agents that do not require a real estate license.
