Substantial embodied carbon emissions savings were unearthedΒ by academics from Cambridge University and Edinburgh Napier University in a study on a high-rise and a mid-rise modular scheme in London. The buildings totalling 879 homes were delivered by Tide Construction using its modular system. University academics found that 28,000 tonnes of embodied carbon emissions were saved from construction β the equivalent of the CO2 absorbed by 1.3m trees in a year. This is well ahead of industry tar...

BioBased tiles are a new sustainable building material being used to create sustainable facades for buildings. They replace traditional building materials and lower carbon emissions. Along with their sister product WasteBasedBricks from StoneCycling, BioBased tiles can be used to build structures that are stronger than traditional buildings, while significantly reducing waste. The problem is that traditional cement production accounts for 8% of global carbon dioxide emissions. Meanwhile, the wo...

When we think about our carbon footprint, hot topics include plastic waste, air pollution and high energy consumption. But we donβt give as much attention to the impact of our digital life.Β With the corporate and social changes of the past few years, more and more people are working and schooling from home. That shift comes with some benefits to the environment, like less commuters on the road and virtually no paper correspondence. However, it also comes with a massive energy footprint.Β Re...
