Dennis DeYoung of Styx Is Sailing Away From His Waterfront Florida Home

Dennis DeYoung is “letting it end” and selling his waterfront home in Boca Raton, FL. The former Styx frontman has his place on the market for $2.8 million.

The rock star purchased the serene spot in 2016 for $1.1 million. If he records a sale at full price, DeYoung could belt out a big profit from the investment.

Located in the gated community of The Oaks at Boca Raton, the property includes five bedrooms and 6.5 baths, spread across 4,702 square feet.

The traditional interiors offer an open plan with coffered ceilings, crown molding, a fireplace, wet bar, and custom built-ins. Large walls of glass provide copious light-filled spaces.

A columned entry leads to the foyer and two-story living room, complete with a grand piano—a perfect place to gather when the musician felt the urge to tickle the keys.

The main floor also has a formal dining room, kitchen with granite counters, and adjoining family room. Glass doors lead to the patio and pool.

The primary suite also comes with glass doors that open to the pool, as well as two en suite bathrooms. A spacious walk-in closet—with a prominently displayed Styx jacket—hints at the homeowner’s affiliation.

Outside, the pool, waterfall spa, and summer kitchen all overlook the lake. The property comes with a three-car garage and a custom driveway with room for seven more vehicles.

The guard-gated community offers residents access to a 25,000-square-foot clubhouse with a gym, pool, spa, professional tennis courts, and a restaurant.

Now 75, the Styx founder and singer penned classic hits such as “Babe,” “Lady,” and “Mr. Roboto.” After 27 years with the popular band, an acrimonious split in 1999 left DeYoung to form his own group to continue the Styx sound. In 2020 and 2021, the Chicago native released two albums, named for his childhood street address: “26 East, Vol. 1” and “26 East, Vol. 2.”
