Abstract
The U.S. construction industry continues to experience a critical labor shortage, with up to 650,000 workers needed to fill the gap. Technology has the potential to help close this gap, says Rory San Miguel. Japan’s successful "i-Construction" program is a model for creating a culture of tech adoption and attracting a younger workforce. Fostering American innovation will reduce personnel shortages and environmental impact, while enticing tech-savvy talent to join the U.N. industry. The government would benefit by mandating new tech solutions. In Japan, i- construction technology solutions are paying dividends.
